Bihar's Robotic Leap: Meet Sumedh – CIMAGE College’s Semi-Humanoid Marvel
Patna, Bihar – A wave of innovation is sweeping through Bihar, and leading the charge is a group of talented students from CIMAGECollege, Patna, who have unveiled an exciting technological breakthrough — Sumedh, a semi-humanoid robot that's redefining what local engineering talent can achieve.
Officially
showcased at the Career Mahakumbh
event, Sumedh is being hailed as Bihar’sfirst semi-humanoid robot — a symbol of creativity, engineering
excellence, and the boundless possibilities of youth innovation.
What
is Sumedh?
Sumedh isn't
just a robot — it's a smart, interactive, AI-powered creation that blends mechanical precision with human-like responsiveness. Designed to engage, interact, and perform with
intelligence and flair, Sumedh proves that cutting-edge robotics can flourish
even outside India’s metro cities.
Key Features of Sumedh: Innovation in Every Move
Intricate Design
with Dynamic Motion
Sumedh’s
physical design stands out instantly. Built with eight articulated arms, each featuring three distinct
segments (first, second, and third), Sumedh also has programmable head, wrist, and leg movement. The robot
includes unique “wing-like” structures that perform specific gestures, adding
character to its presentation.
And
yes — Sumedh can dance, making
it not only functional but also entertaining.
AI-Powered Facial &
Retina Recognition
At the heart of
Sumedh lies an AI-enabled chip
that empowers the robot with facial and eye-retina recognition. Using a
built-in video recorder camera,
Sumedh captures the face and retina of approaching individuals. If the person
is registered in its system,
Sumedh identifies them on sight — if not, it remains inactive.
This
real-time identification is complemented by a proximity sensor:
·
If someone stands within
1 metre, 10 cm, or 15 cm, Sumedh automatically stops to avoid
collisions.
·
Beyond recognition, Sumedh impresses with the ability to respond to any question — showcasing
real AI conversational abilities.
Intuitive RC Controller for
Easy Operation
Operating Sumedh is simple, thanks to a custom RC (remote control) system. The remote features specialized buttons that allow:
·
Right Button – Anti-clockwise rotation
·
Left Button – Clockwise rotation
·
Call Button – Commands Sumedh to come
closer
·
Upper Arm Key – Controls arm gestures
This
makes Sumedh a blend of manual control
and autonomous AI behavior, ideal for educational demos,
presentations, and public interactions.
Eye-Catching Aesthetics with
Interactive Lights
Sumedh’s appeal
doesn’t stop at movement or intelligence — it's designed to attract attention. It features a
dedicated lighting system with LED
seven-segment displays that function in a smooth, engaging manner. A
special button enhances the brightness, creating an aesthetic tech vibe perfect for events.
Why
Sumedh Matters for Bihar and Beyond
Sumedh is more
than a robot; it’s a statement.
A statement that students in Bihar are
ready to lead the charge in emerging tech — from AI to robotics — with
confidence and competence.
CIMAGECollege has long been known for its focus on industry-relevant education, but Sumedh marks a leap into future-forward innovation, proving that Bihar is ready to compete with the best in India’s tech landscape.
Sumedh’s launch
at the Career Mahakumbh event wasn’t just a display — it was a moment of pride for the state. Built
with passion, intelligence, and precision by CIMAGE students, Sumedh is Bihar’s answer to the world of robotics.
And
this is just the beginning.
